Aloha Oe!

I've been missing my childhood home so much, that after a five-year hiatus I decided to go home. So with the moon on my wings...

and a ten-dollar airline lunch, I began my journey from Washington state to Micronesia.

First stop, Honolulu, Hawaii. It was a welcome layover so that I could rest my airsick head for the upcoming eleven-hour jaunt to my final destination.

I spent my short stint in Waikiki, taking in the sights and sounds of beach life bombarded by tourism.

Love birds.

Literally, love birds.

Lovely...

Help me!

I was told that for the best local food on the beach, go to a take-out restaurant behind the Hyatt Regency Hotel, on Koa Street.

It's a little hole in the wall called Koa. "It's where the locals go for lunch, brah!"

I was craving Spam. Spaaaaaaaahm. Yuuuuuuuuuum...

Everyday, at the end of the day, the Hawaiian flag is retired.

When the sun sets, a whole new set of folks emerge.

Street vendors...

Nighttime strollers basking in the glow of the ABC Store...

Street performers...

Local residents who hail from Havana, Cuba. Like Leonardo here. In fact, he used to live in Guam!

When the surfers have dried off,

I say let the chess players keep playing,

while I lay me down to rest for the long journey ahead.

Aloooooooha!
